Talking About Days and Time: Picking Class

Part A
Mary and Stan are picking classes.
瑪麗和史丹在選課。

Mary: Which classes do you want to take?
Stan:I’m most interested in languages. I want to take a German class.
Mary: It starts at eight a.m. Do you really want to get up so early?
Stan: Well, it’s only on Monday and Tuesday. It will be OK. You should take the class with me.
Mary: I don’t like to study in the mornings. I’ll take that class next semester, in February.
Stan:But if you take class in the mornings, you can rest in the afternoons.
Mary: Sorry. You’ll be by yourself in the German class.

瑪麗：你想修什麼課？
史丹：我對語文最感興趣，我想修德文課。
瑪麗：德文課早上八點開始，你真的想這麼早起床嗎？
史丹：嗯，只有星期一和星期二有課，沒問題的。妳應該跟我一起修那堂課。
瑪麗：我不喜歡在早上上課，等二月、下學期時我再修那堂課。
史丹：但如果妳早上上課，下午就可以休息。
瑪麗：歹勢，你自己去上德文課吧。

Part B
Stan is thinking about other classes.
史丹考慮上其他的課。

Stan:I don’t want to take this science class, because it’s at night.
Mary: Why don’t you take art class? It’s only two days a week, and it begins at four p.m.
Stan:That sounds pretty good. What day is it on?
Mary: Let’s see . . . It’s on Saturday and Sunday.
Stan:No way! I don’t want to have class on weekends.
Mary: OK. How about Spanish class? It’s on Tuesday and Thursday, at two o’clock.
Stan:That will be great. I’ll sign up for that class.
Mary: Now you need to help me pick my classes.

史丹：我不想修這堂自然課，因為是在晚上。
瑪麗：不如你選美術課好了，一週只有兩天有課，下午四點開始上課。
史丹：聽起來相當不錯，星期幾有課？
瑪麗：我看看……是在星期六和星期天。
史丹：不行！我不想在週末上課。
瑪麗：好吧，那西班牙課如何？在星期二和星期四兩點。
史丹：那太好了，我要報名那堂課。
瑪麗：現在得換你幫我選課了。

Part C
Mary can’t make up her mind.
瑪麗無法下定決心。

Mary: Should I take the history class or the math class?
Stan:Well, which one do you think is better?
Mary: I would like to take the history class, but it’s in the evenings.
Stan:What’s wrong with that? You like evening classes.
Mary: Yes, but I work in a restaurant on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night.
Stan:You have a job? I didn’t know that. When did you start it?
Mary: I started it in July. It’s a nice way to make money.
Stan:I guess you’ll have to take math class, then.

瑪麗：我應該修歷史課還是數學課？
史丹：嗯，妳覺得哪一堂課比較好？
瑪麗：我想修歷史課，但是是在晚上上課。
史丹：那有什麼問題嗎？妳喜歡晚上的課啊。
瑪麗：對，但我每週三、四、五晚上都要在餐廳工作。
史丹：妳有工作啊？我都不知道，妳什麼時候開始上班的？
瑪麗：我七月開始工作，這是個賺錢的好方法。
史丹：那我想妳只能修數學課了。

Part D
Mary knows which classes she’s going to take.
瑪麗知道她要修哪幾堂課了。

Stan:I think you’re all set.
Mary: Yes. I’m going to take math class, computer class, and science class.
Stan:But science class is in the mornings. You hate early classes, don’t you?
Mary: That’s true, but it starts at 11 a.m. That’s fine with me.
Stan:You sleep in the morning and you have class in the afternoon. Also, you work at night. When will you study?
Mary: I’ll be all right. I’ll just have to study every night after work.
Stan:OK. I’ll always remember to bring you a cup of coffee!

史丹：我想妳的課都選好了。
瑪麗：對，我要修數學、電腦和自然課。
史丹：但妳那堂自然課是在早上，妳討厭早上的課，不是嗎？
瑪麗：是沒錯，但是早上十一點開始，我可以接受。
史丹：妳早上睡覺、下午上課，晚上還有工作，那妳什麼時候唸書？
瑪麗：我沒問題的，每晚下班後再唸就好了。
史丹：那好吧，我會記得帶杯咖啡給妳！
